Loop Delivery Truck - 1938

Loop Laundry and Cleaners, as it was called originally, was founded in 1929 by Julius Sandras, Sr. and Webster Terrebone, as a family laundry and dry cleaner. It was located in the Loop Hotel on Sala Avenue in Westwego, LA. In 1931, Julius Sandras, Sr. became the sole owner, at which time he moved the business location to the rear of his residence at 469 Avenue A in Westwego.

By 1933, the business had expanded to three employees, one truck, and a new location. The new location was next to Julius Sandras' residence on Avenue A in Westwego. This expansion and growth has continued at the same location, from a 120 square foot room to the present 32,500 square foot plant and office building. In 1959, Loop Laundry and Cleaners had grown into one of the largest independently owned and operated dry cleaners in the New Orleans area, having a total of 75 employees, eight laundry and dry cleaners retail stores, five coin-operated Laundromats, and 17 dry cleaning routes.

In 1960, Loop Laundry and Cleaners expanded its service to include linen rental, uniform rental, dust control, and hospital service. With this change came a new name, Loop Linen Service. Today, Loop Linen and Uniform Service is a full service textile rental company, serving the needs of over 2,000 customers in almost every field. Loop Linen and Uniform Service offers a complete range of textile rental and related services, including cook clothes and chef uniforms, kitchen apparel, linen service, industrial uniforms, hospital service, wiping cloths, entry mats, dust mops, safety products, paper products, and other specialized products.
